Education is the most powerful we have to change the world

The recruitment process

Aid sector has an entry system of its own. Postgrad degree is a requirement as much as work abroad. Normally, once you are in the system for 2 or 3 years, it is generally easy to get consequent jobs. In this specific case I came back to an NGO I worked already with in the past; registering in many rosters is a useful tip.

My career history

I started field work before enrolling for postgrad; I joined the University of York after 5 years on field, from volunteer to Field Co. After the MA I jumped from crisis to crisis with certain flexibility;

What has helped my career to progress

Field experience, good networking, passion for analytical methods.

My advice to students considering work

With more crisis there is more and more demand of qualified and prepared staff. So just jump on the boat!

Try, try, and try again.
