The recruitment process

Step 1 – Apply online
As part of the application, we'll ask you to write about yourself, and why you think the programme is right for you, and to tell us about something you've done that has made you feel proud. We recommend that you're as honest and open as you can be, so that we can get a sense of who you are and what matters to you. You might find it easier to write your answers up separately and copy and paste them into the online form so that you have the opportunity to make sure you're really happy with them. Once you are and you've sent us your application, we'll send you an email to confirm we've received it.

Step 2 – Application review
We'll review your application and let you know whether or not we will be progressing you to the next step which is to complete some online aptitude tests.

Step 3 – Assessment centre
If you fit our criteria we'll arrange a suitable time and date with you to talk through your application. If we think you have the right aptitude and talent, we'll invite you to a face-to-face interview or an assessment centre depending on your availability. Don't worry. We'll give you lots of pointers on how to prepare and what to expect on the day but you will be assessed against the same competencies no matter what type of final stage assessment you attend.

At our assessment centres we'll be looking at how you get on in one or all of the following: a presentation, a group task and a face-to-face interview. It's really important to us that you feel relaxed so we can see you at your best, so we'll give you time to prepare. Remember though, the assessment centre isn't just our chance to find out whether you're right for us. It's also your chance to decide whether we're right for you.

Step 4 – Offer
If you are successful at the assessment centre we will call to offer you a place on the Aviva Graduate Scheme. If you aren't successful this time we'll let you know – and if you'd like more feedback on why, just ask.

Step 5 – Pre-employment screening
Before you join us you'll need to complete our pre-employment screening process. Step 6 – Induction
Your first day – welcome to Aviva.

You'll have a couple of days to settle in to your office, meet your manager and get to know your team. Then you'll join other Aviva graduates from around the country on a joint induction. This will introduce you to the company and help you get ready for great things ahead.

My career history

I work in the UK General Insurance arm of Aviva, located in our UKGI head office in Norwich. For my first placement I was given core accounting role within the financial accounting team. This allowed me to really get a good grounding of the basics; working on statutory accounts and submmission to the FSA.

My next and current placement is much more commerically focused - working as a finance business partner to some of biggest partners, the retail banks.
