A day in the life of a Community Fundraising Executive in the United Kingdom

How I found out about the job

EMF (The Events Managers Forum)

The recruitment process

I had to attend an inverview and take part in a test which involved writing a news story, working with numbers and writing letters.

My career history

After working for a medical company I decided I wanted to work in the third sector and took part in an internship with Barnardos. After completing my internership I successfully got a job at the charity I currently work at.

My advice to students considering work

My advice is to think carefully about careers you are interested in and get as much relevant experience as you can.

What I do

My main duties involve supporting individuals who wish to fundraise for us. This ranges from meeting with fundraisers to organising events. I also manage new projects to increase our fundraising.

Skills I use and how I developed them

I had completed an internship at a charity, meaning I had relevant charity experience.

What I like most

I enjoy the interaction with supporters and the fact that every day is different.
