This is my first job since leaving university.
Courses taken since graduation
In course of ACA - chartered accountancy
Where I hope to be in 5 years
Currently I'm very happy within Deloitte and would hope to progress internally within the organisation. The professional qualifications I hope to achieve do give me the freedom to move elsewhere once achieved.
My advice to students considering work
Don't be afraid to apply, the worst an employer can do is so no. The more applications you submit, the more experienced you become with regards to the general recruitment process.
Make the most of your time at university, seizing as many opportunities both within and outside of your degree. I can't highlight enough the importance of having ample experiences to discuss in a professional interview.

What I do
I am a consultant working within risk. I work with the controls businesses have in place, testing them with the aim of analysing how effective they are and providing guidance where no controls are in place/are inadequate. This entails a lot of client interaction. My job is tremendously varied, giving me opportunities to work in a wide variety of sectors and industries. I am based both centrally at the Deloitte Leeds office and on site with clients.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Extracurricular skills:
Analysis - Psychology is a very analytical degree, so I developed this from my degree
Report writing - again developed within my degree
Socialising - need to speak to people both external and internal within Deloitte, I worked part time and with societies at University to develop this.
What I like most
I am well supported in terms of professional education. I am currently studying towards my ACA (chartered accountancy qualification) and the firm both fund this, and provide a tremendous amount of support and time out from work to encourage my development.
What I like least
It is demanding. Especially studying alongside work does limit your free time. However there is a strong emphasis on a work life balance so this isn't too bad.
