A day in the life of a Application Developer in the United Kingdom

How I found out about the job

Recruitment agency

The recruitment process

I was contacted by a recruitment agency who found my details through Reed. I had a short telephone interview with the agent. After passing this interview I received a telephone interview which was then followed up with an interview at the company. The interview involved answering a technical question as well as talking them through my university studies and answering questions about my personality.

My career history

Training for using SQL Server and bespoke software to provide solutions for customers.

My advice to students considering work

Apply at the start of the final year, do not apply for the job you really want first and get someone to proof read your CV and cover letter. Try and get some work experience and participate in societies. It is also helpful to spend time looking at different programming languages.

My advice about working in my industry

Spend time looking at different programming languages.

Skills I use and how I developed them

The qualification, level and subject helped get the interview but the skills I have helped during the interview.

Extracurricular skills:
My computer skills picked up over the years are useful in this job.
