My career history
Internships in investment banks, exchanges, clearing houses, and foreign exchange firms.
Where I hope to be in 5 years
I hope to continue progressing quickly up the corporate ladder in the long term. In the short term, I hope to successfully deliver this large project for my client, and sell a piece of work to them to prove my worth to the company.
My advice to students considering work
Part of working is being sociable, building relationships with both clients and within the firm, and just being able to enjoy yourself. I'd suggest don't take yourself too seriously, and just be yourself, most companies just want someone who will fit in, rather than someone pretending to be something they aren't.
My advice about working in my industry
Read as much as you can. The more relevant information you have on your application, the more you stand out. Read the assessment criteria as different companies look for different things. Do work experience. You will learn most things on the job, but thousands of people are applying for these jobs and if you are not differentiating yourself here, you will struggle.
What I do
I am consulted by Investment Banks for business analysis and program management roles. I am currently working on a project involving helping a leading Swiss Investment Bank restructure its derivatives trading front to back architecture. I gather requirements and document from them, and manage a range of senior stakeholders.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Extracurricular skills:
Business Analysis - on the job
Stakeholder management - internships, university activities such as football help team building. I was active within the JCRC which is something positive and tangible for the CV.
What I like most
I enjoy the exposure to senior clients and the people I work with from Accenture.
What I like least
You have to do two jobs, your job for the client, and a job for the consultancy firm where you contribute to the community, and attempt to sell more work for the organisation.
