What I do
I am self employed so am responsible for everything from purchasing to payrol, sales to support and everything inbetween! I run an ICT Consultancy based in Hull, serving the Hull, East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire area, providing sales, service and support to small businesses and primary schools.
What I like most
The variety - no two days are the same. Meeting lots of different people and travelling to different places. The sense of satisfaction and achievement when an idea you had makes it to reality.
What I like least
Being self-employed is not a job - it's a lifestyle! You really are on-call 24/7 and never really switch off. The most important thing to learn is to separate work and home life. I am married with a 2 year old daughter and second child on the way, so try to make as much time for them as possible, but it's not always easy.
What would I change? Gone self-employed sooner!
