How I found out about the job

Employer's website

The recruitment process

After making an online application to KPMG China when I returned to Shanghai, I was invited to a written test, which was about English, economic and finance. After that I had a group interview with a panel of line managers, followed by the final interview with the partner of KPMG.

My career history

I worked as an intern in KPMG China when I was studying year 3, after finishing my master course in York in 2007, I joined the audit department of KPMG China. 3 years later I have set up my loan business.

My advice to students considering work

For the financial students, they should spend more time on studying, and gain more expertise about Chinese economy by participating in relevant forum and have a regular discussion with fellow classmates. When they graduate, they should fully utilise their capability and understand their positioning in the market, in order to get job that can unleash their ability.

What I do

I worked in the audit department in KPMG China for three years, during the first year, I worked with the clients in finance and property market, and my job duties included working on accounting statement and auditing. My jobs became more important and diversified when I gained more experiences, in the second and third year, I was responsible to work on projects that require more analytical skills, and helped to train new members.

Skills I use and how I developed them

With my proactive participation in financial forum when I was studying, I developed substantial expertise about the local economy environment, and this helped me to gain a job in auditing in KPMG China.

What I like most

Some clients in KPMG China are prominent businesses and I had learnt a lot by working with them.
