I did two consecutive summer internships.

They haven't really helped. The course changed after the first year to something I didn't want but I was too heavily invested to move away.
Extracurricular skills:
Involvement in real business environment to develop applicable skills.

I hope to become company director.
My advice to students considering work
Involve yourself outside of core academia as much as possible.
