Briefly describe the organisation you work for

I work in Cyprus as a linguistics instructor and researcher.

What do you do?

I do research on different aspects of linguistics and teach linguistics classes.

Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?

I have always had a passion for languages. At the University, I discovered that my passion can be my job.

Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?

There are less work opportunities than I expected, but this has not made me regret my earlier decision.

Describe your most memorable day at work

Making small discoveries about linguistics.

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?

I had to work during my studies to cover the expenses associated with my studies. But I enjoyed meeting new people and learning about their cultures through those experiences.

What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?

Do as many things as you can before you go in the job market.
