A day in the life of a Principle in the United Kingdom

Briefly describe the organisation you work for

I work for a consulting firm that works on governemnt reform.

What do you do?

As a Principle at FMA I provide advice to governments around the world on how to reform their public spending for the betterment of their people.

Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?

I wanted to be at the heart of commercial decision making and use my skills and experiences to make a difference.

Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?

Yes, my career has led me places I would never imagine.

Describe your most memorable day at work

There are too many to single out just one. All I can say is my work has taken me to parts of the world I would never imagine to work with some amazing people.

What’s your work environment and culture like?

I currently work predominantley from home when not travelling for work, which in normal times is a big part of the job.

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?

Internships in a variety of industries. You'll have all your life to build a career, try different things while you can.

What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?
