A day in the life of a Postgraduate Student in the United Kingdom

Joining sports teams and partaking in college-based events really encourages students to generate additional confidence and people skills required throughout both university and the wider world.

Briefly describe the organisation you work for

The London School of Economics and Political Science is a world-renowned academic institution; regarded as one of the world's best institutions to study the social sciences.

What do you do?

I am currently waiting to start reading for a Master of Science in the Political Economy of Europe.

Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?

Given the focus of my studies at the University of York - having read PPE - and my previous professional experience, I felt generating a deeper understanding and specialism in what is an extremely active field would add value to me both from a professional stand-point and personal one.

Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?

Having just graduated, and having always focused on joining the course I am waiting on reading at the LSE, the answer would be no.

Describe your most memorable day at work

Getting to interact with my peers from across the world remotely has been particularly rewarding thus far, and I hope to have plenty of future memorable days once the new academic year starts.

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?

Joining sports teams and partaking in college-based events really encourages students to generate additional confidence and people skills required throughout both university and the wider world.

What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?

Be confident in the decisions you make.
