Profile

Biography

Megan is a Research Associate at SEI York, working on Rights of Nature in the Anthropocene with a focus on the rights of rivers in England. She works in collaboration with the Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity at the Unviersity of York, where she also did her PhD on rights-based approaches to conservation. She is interested in rights, justice and equity in environmental governance.

Her background is in political ecology and environmental social science. She has previously worked in the NGO sector, specialising in community-led rainforest conservation in Peru and Papua New Guinea and the development of participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) for a community-led education in Tanzania. She also worked as a Research Assistant at the UCL Extreme Citizen Science (UCL ExCiteS) research group, supporting communities to develop citizen science projects, regardless of their background or literacy level.

Megan holds a MSc in Anthropology, Environment and Development, and a BA in Archaeology and Anthropology, both from UCL.
