Profile

Biography

Duncan is a PhD researcher at SEI York. His research develops high-resolution 3D maps of pollution across the Maltese islands by integrating low-cost sensor networks with satellite data. This hybrid approach aims to capture complex environmental variations in one of the EU’s most densely populated regions to better inform urban policy.

Duncan is the initiator of "Clear the Air,” a student-led climate action project that empowers young citizens to lead data-driven inquiries into air quality. This initiative puts students at the forefront of proposing emission-reduction solutions. It is recognised by the European Citizen Science platform and the STEAM Learning Ecology initiative.

A holder of the prestigious National STEM Educator Award, Duncan has over 13 years of experience as a Physics and Science teacher. He is also an active national radio presenter, dedicated to making science accessible to the public. Duncan holds an M.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), and PGCE, and is committed to bridging the gap between atmospheric science and community engagement.
