Integrated Research on Social-ecological Systems

This initiative is a collaboration between Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University, the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, SEI and the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP).

The research takes an integrated social-natural sciences perspective, focusing on:

processes of resilience and causes for loss of resilience and interactions across scales;,
governance systems across spatial and temporal scales to cope with uncertainty and vulnerability; and
the need to revise current approaches to economic policy, indicators of wealth, and governance
