Registration for the conference is now open. The attendance packages available are as follows:

  • Full 1- or 2-day rate: £75.00 (£90 from 1st June)
  • Full 3-day rate: £90.00 (£110 from 1st June)
  • Student/unwaged 1- or 2-day rate: £40.00 (£50 from 1st June)
  • Student/unwaged 3-day rate: £50.00 (£60 from 1st June)

The conference dinner (Thursday 7th July, 7pm) is limited availability and is priced at £22.

The three plenary sessions are also limited availability, but are free to attend.

To register for the conference, please use the button above to take you to the University of York online conference registration and payment system. Online registration is required, but you do not have to pay online - offline payment is also accepted by following the instructions below. Bursary-funded delegates should also follow these instructions.

Bursary Registration

We have received generous funding from the Society for Renaissance Studies and the Royal Historical Society towards postgraduate bursaries for speakers, to cover in the first place fees and, in the event that there are any remaining funds, travel within the UK to and from the conference.

In addition, there may be some money available towards expenses for delegates who are in particular need of financial support, including those who have completed doctoral studies but not yet found employment.

The bursaries will be handled by Dr Kevin Killeen. To apply for a bursary, please contact us before registering ( and before April 15th 2011. You will need to send proof of status in the form of a short email/letter from your PhD supervisor, confirming your registration for a higher degree and that you are not able to gain funding to attend the conference from your home institution. If you receive confirmation that you have received a bursary, please complete the online registration using the 'Offline Payment' instructions below.

Offline Payment

Delegates who wish to pay using cheque or postal order, or delegates who are funded by bursaries, should follow these instructions:

  • Click the registration button above, and click the 'Book this Event' button in the resulting page.
  • Fill out your details and plenary session/dinner requirements.
  • Click the 'Checkout' button - you will have an 'Event Confirmation' page detailing your choices.
  • Make a note of the 'Reference' at the top-right and click 'Proceed to payment'. You will be asked for credit card details, but simply click 'Logout' in the 'My Account' panel on the left-hand side (if you can't see 'My Account' click on 'Conferences & Events' tab).
  • Your details have been registered, but your booking will not be completed until we receive your payment via post (or confirm you as a bursary-funded delegate). Please send payment to our contact address together with your name, contact details and confirmation reference number. Your registration will be confirmed once payment has cleared, or bursary funding has been confirmed.
