Title of Research:
The Human Side of Fusion: A Value-Oriented Approach to Nuclear Fusion Energy Research and Development
Brief overview of research topic:
My PhD research focuses on the social and ethical aspects of fusion energy technology, particularly the role of values in the research and development process. Drawing on the frameworks of sociotechnical imaginaries and value-sensitive design, the research uses documentary analysis and semi-structured interviews to explore how values are invoked in public narratives and realised in practice.
More broadly, I am interested in values in technological design, especially in areas of 'deep tech' and other socially disruptive emerging technologies, and the politics and philosophy of science, technology and engineering
