Katie Vernon

Arms and Armour in Middle English Romance

Katie's research focuses on arms and armour in Middle English romance. She examines how different items of arms and amour have certain connotations and contexts within medieval society and how this is expressed in the romances, and she is also interested in how different social groups use martial objects or imagery to express identity. Katie is particularly interested in interdisciplinary studies, with supervisors from the Archaeology department and the English and Related Literatures department, she is therefore also more broadly interested in studies of material culture in literary works.
