On 8 January we celebrated the achievements of our 2024/5 cohort at their graduation and announced our prize winners.

CENTRE FOR MEDIEVAL STUDIES - MA PRIZES 2025

Garmonsway Coursework Prize:
Was awarded to the student(s) with the highest coursework average across the MA in Medieval Studies cohort. Joint prize winners are Nora Besley and Mallory Moss

Garmonsway Dissertation Prize:
Was awarded for the highest-scoring MA dissertation across the MA in Medieval Studies cohort. The prize winner is Naoki Matsumoto for their dissertation on:
In a bind: the Kraków student, the Melk reform and the transgender experience in the Middle Ages

Olivia Toubkin prize for the best essay on an Old Norse topic:
Was awarded for the highest-scoring Viking Poetry essay each year. The prize winner was Jessica Sherburn. 

Richard III Prize:
Was awarded for the best MA dissertation on a medieval fifteenth-century topic relating to the British Isles or Western Europe. The prize winner is Beth Harckham-Edwards for their dissertation on: The lost tomb of Earl Thomas Beauchamp II and Countess Margaret Ferrers of Warwick, St Mary’s Collegiate Church, Warwick
