York historians secure prestigious Leverhulme fellowships

Three academics from the Department of History have each been awarded fellowships from the Leverhulme Trust for their upcoming research.

Dr Sophie Weeks, Dr Mark Roodhouse and Dr Jon Howlett from the Department of History at the University of York have each secured a prestigious fellowship from the Leverhulme Trust.  The titles of the research projects are as follows:

Dr Sophie Weeks: Francis Bacon's Science of Magic

Dr Mark Roodhouse: Disorganised Crime: Illegal Markets and the London Underworld c.1920-70

Dr Jon Howlett: Decolonisation and China: Shanghai after the Communist Takeover

They will each commence their research in September 2017.
