Madeline is a PhD candidate, supervised by Jane Hawkes. Her research is centered on angels in art of the Anglo-Saxon period, with an emphasis on narrative and iconographic peculiarities when compared with continental angelic material. She completed her MA at the University of York in Medieval Languages and Literature, working with the text of Genesis B found in the Junius Manuscript, and her BA in Art History and English Literature at the University of Oregon, with an emphasis in Medieval Art and Architecture, and Old English literature. Her wider research interests beyond her thesis include engineering of churches and cathedrals, and unusual stories and legends pertaining to angels and saints from across the Medieval period.
