Madeline Boden

Madeline is a PhD candidate working with Jason Edwards on the Victorian President of the Royal Academy, Frederic Leighton and his trips to the Middle East, c. 1858-1895. Her doctoral thesis examines the influence of Ottoman and Islamic culture on Leighton's practice and the avenues of artistic engagement he pursued while travelling across the Middle East. 
 
Madeline completed her BA and MA in the History of Art department at York, the latter of which was funded by a studentship with the Hepworth Wakefield in 2015. She has recently worked on the education programme for the York Art Gallery's 2017 exhibition 'Albert Moore: Of Beauty and Aesthetics and currently, serves on the Friends of the York Art Gallery committee.
