Biography

Tom Almeroth-Williams (cityofbeastslondon@gmail.com) was awarded his York PhD in history on the topic of horses and livestock in Hanoverian London.

This research formed the basis of his first book, City of Beasts: How animals shaped Georgian London (MUP, 2019) which he completed as a Research Associate of the Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies. In addition to human–animal interactions, his main interests lie in urban life and the world of work in Georgian Britain.

Tom is the University of Cambridge’s Research Communications Manager for the Arts & Humanities. He is available for media interviews and consultancy.
