Finding the Merchant Adventurers' Hall
To go from the Conference Hotel to the Mansion House for the conference dinner on Friday evening, go out of the main entrance to the hotel and turn left.
Walk up North Street to the traffic lights.
Turn left at the traffic lights.
The B1227 is not painted on the road by the way! Walk up this road and over the River. You are walking towards the City Centre and the main shopping area. Continue until you reach the pedestrian crossing traffic lights.
At these lights go straight ahead, don't follow the road around to the right. You will be walking up a street called High Ousegate.
A short way up High Ousegate you will see one of York's very many churches this one is the All Saints, The Pavement. A particular pint of interest in this church is the lantern in the tower.
Walk past the church a few more metres and you will be in Parliament Street, a wide shopping street often with a market running down the centre.
Walk over to the road opposite you with Jessops (well a closed down Jessops) on your right and Lloyds Bank on your left, as in the photo below. The street is Piccadilly.
Walk down Piccadilly to the trees you can see on the left hand side.
At the trees you will find the Merchant Adventurers' Hall.
