The skin cytokine network in psoriasis

Friday 3 November 2017, 1.00PM

Speaker: Dr Miriam Wittmann, Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine (LIRMM), University of Leeds

Psoriasis is a common skin disease. It is now believed to be involved in a number of co-morbidities including psoriatic arthritis, cardiovascular events and metabolic disease.

Biologics targeting TNFa or the IL-23/IL-17 axis have transformed treatment of the “psoriasis disease continuum”. This presentation will link cytokine regulation with clinical symptoms and the potential relevance for “stratified medicine”. It will give an overview on our current understanding of the pathogenesis and therapeutic targets with focus on IL17/23 and the IL-1 family member IL-36.
