Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

Our research topic is computation and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. We have two main areas of interest:

  • We exploit the dynamics of nuclear spin systems as a platform for investigating unconventional computation. Experimental implementations here mostly use solution-state NMR but can also take advantage of solid-state NMR experiments.
  • We are also interested in a particular area of computation (so called artificial chemistries) that takes inspiration from the laws of physics and chemistry in order to construct and examine algorithms with emergent properties.

Our research is in collaboration with colleagues in the Department of Computer Science.
