Green Synthesis and Application of Metal Oxide and Metal Sulphide Nanoparticles

A simple and green methodology for the controlled synthesis of a range of functional metal oxide and metal sulphide will be described. Biopolymer stabilisation was used which allows the use of enzymes for controlled de-shelling of the prepared nanoparticles. The process shown here has good potential for scale up as a biosynthetic route for a range of functional nanoparticles. These nanomaterials have application in new generation solar cells and for solar energy conversion by water splitting. Some of these applications will be described and shown.
