Vijay GC is a Senior Research Fellow in the Team for Economic Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment (TEEHTA) at the Centre for Health Economics since February 2025. Vijay holds a double master’s degree in public health from the University of Sheffield (UK), the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and EHESP French School of Public Health (France), along with a PhD in Health Economics from the University of East Anglia. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Previously, Vijay was a Senior Lecturer in Health Economics at the University of Huddersfield and held research positions at the Centre for Health Economics, University of York and the Health Economics Group at the University of East Anglia. Prior to academia, he worked with the development sector and with the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen.
Vijay has expertise in economic evaluation, microcosting analysis, decision analytic modelling, early health technology assessment, discrete choice experiments and value of information analysis. He has applied these methods to assess various health technologies, including complex (public) health interventions, diagnostic tests, medical devices, and wearable digital health solutions. His research covers multiple disease areas, such as tuberculosis, chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, sudden cardiac death, acute coronary syndrome, bronchiolitis, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndrome, chronic non-malignant pain, skin tears, and rotator cuff tear.
