Profile

Biography

Ana Duarte is a Research Fellow in the Team for Economic Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment (TEEHTA). She joined TEEHTA in November 2012 after studying the MSc in Health Economics at the University of York. Ana also holds a Pharmacy degree and a post-graduate diploma in Regulation and Evaluation of Medicines and Health Products from the University of Lisbon. She is a member of one of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) technology appraisal committees since 2021.

Projects

Methodological research:

• Research for supporting the routine collection of patient reported outcome measure for the National Clinical Audits for assessing cost-effectiveness

Applied research:

• Health Technology Assessment - A clinical and economic evaluation of screeningand diagnostic tests to identify and treat women with gestational diabetes: association between maternal risk factors, glucose levels, and adverse outcomes
• Health Technology Assessment - A randomised controlled trial of computerised cognitive behaviour therapy for the treatment of depression in primary care: The Randomised Evaluation of the Effectiveness and Acceptability of Computerised Therapy (REEACT) trial
• SMaRT oncology-2: a two arm parallel group randomised controlled trial to determine the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of adding a complex intervention for major depressive disorder ('Depression Care for People with Cancer') to usual care, compared to usual care alone in cancer patients

Past Projects

• Single Technology Assessment for NICE - Aflibercept in combination with irinotecan and fluorouracil-based therapy for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer which has progressed following prior oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy
• Single Technology Assessment for NICE - Crizotinib for the treatment of previously treated non-small-cell lung cancer associated with an anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) fusion gene
