Graphical tools for presenting uncertainty in multiple treatment comparisons

Thursday 15 July 2021, 11.00AM to 12.00pm

Speaker(s): David Epstein, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Economics, University of Granada, Spain.

Abstract: The cost-effectiveness acceptability curve (CEAC) was developed over 25 years ago, and has become a widely used analytic and graphical tool for presenting uncertainty in economic evaluations. However, when multiple options are being compared for a given indication, the set of CEACs become more difficult to interpret and use for decision making. This seminar reviews the use of rank probabilities to provide additional insights and understanding about the uncertainty in the results of economic evaluations when there are multiple treatment options available.  Graphical tools will be presented that complement the CEACs, and discussion will centre on the utility of such tools and their interpretation.
