Abstract: The talk will cover a conceptual overview of identification and interpretation of instrumental variable effects and their estimations. The concept of person-centered treatment effects will be discussed. Its application will be illustrated in a study of understanding the mortality effects of intensive care unit use for deteriorating patients in hospital wards in the UK.
