The Impact of Interventions on Social Determinants of Health: Evaluating the Past to Forecast the Future

Davide Rasella

Thursday 8 February 2024, 2.00PM to 3.00pm

Speaker(s): Davide Rasella (ISGlobal)

Abstract: Interventions that target social determinants of health, particularly poverty and access to healthcare, have an enormous potential to reduce the burden of diseases and improve population health, especially in Low and Middle-Income Countries.
The seminar will present recent studies that used multicounty and longitudinal big data to evaluate the impact of conditional cash transfers and primary health care on a wide range of health outcomes in Latin America.
Moreover, most of these studies were able to integrate ex-post with ex-ante impact evaluations, forecasting the effects of the expansion of these interventions in the current polycrisis era.
