Ongoing implementation of the NICE manual for technology evaluation

Carl Prescott

Thursday 7 September 2023, 2.00PM to 3.00pm

Speaker(s): Carl Prescott, NICE

Abstract: Over the last year, NICE has been conducting an ongoing review of the implementation of the 2022 manual for technology evaluation. This has included some qualitative analyses with key stakeholders (to capture their reflections and experiences with the 2022 manual), and quantitative analyses in areas such as how frequently the new flexibilities in our manual have been applied by committee. This session will begin with some context setting, outlining some of the key changes we made to the manual in 2022 (such as the introduction of the severity modifier). The session will then go on to reflect on our findings from our ongoing review of implementation, including the successes and challenges, what we have learnt so far, what we’ve done (or plan to do) in response to our findings, and how we will be tackling future updates.

Location: Zoom only (not recorded)
