Teaching and scholarship

teaching icon
My teaching aims to engage students in the applications of cell and developmental biology in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine.

tutorials icon
My tutorials are under the broad multi-disciplinary theme of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. We discuss the approach of using principles of biology, chemistry and engineering to repair and replace damaged and diseased organs, with a particular focus on stem cell biology. Using this theme, the tutorials teach key skills in giving scientific presentations, critique of literature and scientific writing.

projects icon
The projects I run examine non-destructive methods of imaging to characterise heterogeneity of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Within a population of MSCs, only some may be true stem cells. Using morphometric and dynamic metrics differences in cell subtypes can be identified. These projects provide skills in cell biology, microscopy and data analysis.
