Theo Issitt - Three Minute Thesis (3MT) National Finalist

Posted on 1 September 2021

Congratulations to Theo Issitt, Biology PhD student, who has successfully made it through to the UK final of the 3MT competition.

Having previously won the University's 3MT competition, Theo has been selected - out of 1,000 researchers - as one of the final six in the national competition, which is a fantastic achievement!

Theo’s talk, ‘the smell of cells’, focuses on his research with Kelly Redeker, Will Brackenbury and Sean Sweeney who are investigating the chemical signals released by cancer cells to aid in creating diagnostic breath tests for cancer patients.

We're delighted that Theo is continuing York's streak of success in the competition, as he is one of three finalists in the last four years to come from York.

The final event will take place on Friday 10 September from 12.15pm to 1pm and the audience will be able to vote for their People's Choice winner after all presentations have been given. We would like to encourage as many of you as possible to sign up to watch the event and vote for Theo!

Register your place at the National 3MT Final, 12.15pm - 1pm on Friday 10 September.
