This research examines the connection between heritage and urban regeneration, focusing on how historical environments and cultural landmarks influence contemporary urban development. It explores the ways heritage contributes to shaping urban identity, spatial transformation, and planning strategies. By analysing different approaches to heritage management and regeneration, the study aims to provide a clearer understanding of how heritage can inform future urban development practices.

Biography

Beiying Zhu is a PhD researcher in Architecture at the University of York. Her research explores the relationship between heritage and urban regeneration, focusing on how historical environments influence contemporary urban development. She has participated in research and teaching activities within the York School of Architecture, focusing on heritage and urban regeneration. Her academic interests include architectural history, heritage management, and digital documentation. Beyond academia, she enjoys film, music, travel, and exploring historic cities.
