Grounds staff

Main responsibilities

• Cutting grass and hedges
• Landscaping and repairing paths
• Pruning and shrubbery maintenance (including fertilising and applying pesticides) and seasonal bedding
• Maintaining grass sports pitches and preparing the synthetic all weather pitches
• Maintaining the University lake and associated water courses
• Snow clearing and gritting when required

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential: Full Driving Licence, NPTC certificates in PA1 & PA6a. Experience in soft landscaping, including tree planting, grass seeding, turf laying and shrub bed preparation. Experience in the maintenance of grass sports pitches.
• Desirable: Recognised horticultural qualification. Experience in hard landscaping such as path maintenance and fencing. Maintenance of synthetic/all weather sports facilities.

Skills

• Essential: Proficient in the use of tractors and ride-on & pedestrian grass cutting machinery and powered hand tools. Proficient in paving and non-structural brickwork.
• Desirable: Experience in using equipment such as chainsaws and elevated work platforms
