Accessibility statements
About systems operated by HR
HR offers services and information via its website, including a number of online systems. In addition to this website, the systems currently used are:
- Dashboard - casual worker registration, booking and claims
- Employee benefits portal - staff benefits and special offers
- eRecruiter - applications for job vacancies
- Zendesk (Helpdesk) - view the progress of your HR requests or raise a question
- Kronos - time and attendance system
- Learning Management System - browse and register for online and classroom training
- MyView - data about you and your team
- ResourceLink - HR system for authorised users
- Tableau - Management information
The software underpinning the above systems is supplied by the following companies that meet Accessibility Standards:
- Dashboard - supplied by Dashboard Technology. In their Accessibility Statement they aim for WCAG 2.1/AA guidelines
- Employee benefits portal - supplied by Edenred. Publically available VPAT designed to address requirements of Section 508. Prepared against WCAG 1.0 guidelines.
- eRecruiter - supplied by Hireserve. In their Accessibility Statement they aim for WCAG 2.1/AA guidelines
- Zendesk - supplied by Zendesk. Publically available VPAT designed to address requirements of Section 508. Prepared against WCAG 2.0 guidelines
- Kronos - supplied by Kronos Systems Ltd. Publically available VPAT designed to address requirements of Section 508. Prepared against WCAG 2.0 guidelines
- Learning Management System - supplied by Cornerstone. In their Accessibility Statement they aim for WCAG 2.1/AA guidelines
- MyView and Resourcelink - supplied by Zellis. In their Accessibility Statement they aim for WCAG 2.1/AA guidelines
- Tableau - supplied by Tableau. Publically available VPAT designed to address requirements of Section 508. Prepared against WCAG 2.0 guidelines
- Perceptive Content - supplied by Hyland. VPAT designed to address requirements of Section 508. Prepared against WCAG 2.0 guidelines.
The above accessibility standards mean that you will be able to do the following with your browser:
- change colours, contrast levels and font size
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen except where content has been created by a user in such a way to not make this possible (for example within a non-responsive table)
- navigate the website using just a keyboard
- navigate the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
You should be able to do the above on anything that has been typed directly into any of the HR Systems.
About files available from Human Resources
The majority of files available through the HR website and our online systems have been uploaded or curated by University staff. There are hundreds of files and dozens of file types. As such, the accessibility level may vary between them. We know that most older PDF documents aren't fully accessible to screen reader software.
Human Resources are reviewing the files whenever they are updated to maximise accessibility for as many users as possible. This means that you should be able to do the following in the software that opens the files:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts on documents
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate the file content using just a keyboard
- navigate the file content using speech recognition software
- listen to the file content using a screen reader
We are constantly working to improve the accessibility of these resources. As such, some modules are still being updated as part of each department's development plan. Please let us know if you are in need of alternative formats.
Closed captions (subtitles) for video
We recognise that automatic captions may not always be entirely accurate. The automated process may struggle to interpret subject specific terminology, negotiate heavy speaker accent or localised turn of phrase, or extract speech from recordings where the signal-to-noise ratio in the audio has been compromised.
All videos on the HR website and our online systems have their subtitles (closed captions) scrutinised for improved accuracy as per the University's Policy on Video Captions (2020). For automatic mass produced live online training recordings are generated under The University's Policy for the Recording of Lectures (2018), all videos contain closed captions generated by automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology. Through Department-level Accessibility Statements, staff have access to a reporting procedure to flag issues with content or automated captions.

Enforcement of accessibility regulations
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations. If you are not happy with how the University has responded to your notification or request, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
