Updated policy approved at University Research Committee

Following approval at University Research Committee, the revised Research Misconduct Policy and Procedure is now available on the University webpages. The policy has been updated to ensure alignment with the requirements of the UUK Concordat to Support Research Integrity and best practice across the sector.

Major changes to note are:

  • The definition of research misconduct has been amended to reflect the language used in the Concordat; there are no substantive changes to the content.
  • The policy now specifies that independent members must be included on formal investigation panels, as is required under the Concordat. Although this is a large change, we are able to seek advice and guidance on this from the UK Research Integrity Office.
  • An appeals process has been added in line with best practice across the sector.
