Ensuring digital products and services are fully accessible

The Equality and Diversity office are pleased to announce the recent publication of the Procuring Accessible Systems guidance. This vital new resource provides the legal framework outlining how the University must operate to ensure our digital products and services are fully accessible.

Building on the principle that "if something is not accessible, then it is not yet complete," this guidance applies to both the front-end user-facing side of the system and the back end administrative functions. It includes an easy-to-follow checklist and walks colleagues through the entire procurement process – from initial supplier engagement and essential questions to ask, to setting clear accessibility expectations and collaborating with suppliers to ensure the long-term accessibility of their digital product.

The guidance was created by the Equality and Diversity Office, and was consulted on by the Equality, Diversity Inclusion Committee and the e-Accessibility Working Group.
