Colleagues with visas should check the information in their UKVI account is correct before travelling overseas
This is a reminder that eVisas have replaced biometric residence permits and cards, passport ink stamps and visa endorsements. (Please see article from 16 August 2024 for full details)
Personal and passport details must be kept up to date in visa holders’ UKVI accounts to ensure eVisas are valid for travel.
What this means for international colleagues
Colleagues with visas should check the information in their UKVI account is correct before travelling overseas.
Personal and passport details must be linked to each UKVI account and kept up to date using the update UKVI account details service.
If the visa status is incorrect, the eVisa error must be reported and corrected.
Visa holders should get a share code to prove their immigration status before travelling overseas. Travel companies may ask for a share code, or to view a screen from a UKVI account to confirm a UK visa status before allowing return travel to the UK. Share codes are valid for 90 days.
Important: It is advisable to keep a copy of the identity document used to create each UKVI account, as well as any immigration application reference numbers and expired BRPs, as these may be needed to access UKVI accounts or for future immigration applications.
