Key dates for payroll, recruitment and right to work activity

The HR Services and Compliance Team will be working until Tuesday 23 December 2025. Please continue to provide us with all employee changes and requests to recruit as soon as possible. However, please be advised of the following deadlines:

Payroll cut-off dates for salaried staff

Tuesday 9 December 2025 is the payroll deadline for all employee changes and new starters for December 2025. Requests received or approved after this date will not be processed until January 2026.

Payroll cut-off dates for Casual workers (including YCL Casuals)

12 noon on Thursday 11 December 2025 is the last day for workers to submit their timesheets for approval.

5pm on Monday 15 December 2025 is the last day for departments to approve timesheets for payment.

Tuesday 9 December 2025 is the payroll deadline for all employee changes and new starters for December 2025. Requests received or approved after this date will not be processed until January 2026.

Recruitment

In the absence of colleagues to support candidates we would not recommend any vacancies having a closing date during the Christmas break; roles advertised over this period should close no earlier than 5 January 2026.

The deadline for advertising roles on jobs.ac.uk is 18 December 2025.

Any offer of appointment forms received into HR Services by 5pm on 19 December 2025 will be processed before the Christmas break. Any forms received after this date will likely be processed in the New Year.

New employees and casual workers - Right to Work checks

New employees starting work in the new year must have completed their right to work check before they start work.

If you need to engage new casual workers to join the University over the Christmas period, please remember that they will need to have a right to work check and be booked in Dashboard prior to undertaking any work. The last day for us to approve any workers will be Tuesday 23 December 2025, work planned for January can be booked in advance in December.

Appointments for Right to Work checks will be available until 4pm on Tuesday 23 December 2025 and will resume after the Christmas break on Monday 5 January 2026.
