Resolving conflicts in the workplace

In any workplace, relationships between colleagues can sometimes become strained and break down. The University has its own in house mediation service, which offers an informal, confidential route to resolve disputes in the workplace.

The mediation service is available to all staff and is completely voluntary. It is run by trained mediators who provide clear structure to facilitate honest and open discussion between the two parties. Mediators remain impartial and non-judgemental at all times. The outcome of mediation is usually an agreement between the two individuals which focuses on resolving differences and rebuilding a working relationship.

Mediation runs completely separately from any other University process, it is confidential, without prejudice and is much quicker than other formal processes.
