Colleagues can be reimbursed via the expenses process
In recent years, the University has offered reimbursements for the cost of flu jabs. This year, the provision is being extended to cover the cost of covid vaccinations. This is to help protect members of the University and wider York community. UoY staff who are not eligible for a free flu vaccination or a free covid-19 vaccination will be reimbursed if they choose to have one, or both, of the jabs.
Check your eligibility for free winter vaccinations
The flu jab is being offered for free to adults in certain groups and to those with certain long-term health conditions. Visit the NHS website for the latest details and to check your eligibility for a free flu jab.
The covid jab is also available for free to adults aged 75 or over and to those with certain health conditions. Find out more about this year’s covid vaccination programme and check your eligibility for a free covid-19 jab.
Arranging a paid for vaccination
If you would like a flu jab this year, but you are not eligible for a free one, you can book at many local supermarkets or pharmacies. A Flu jab will usually cost between £10.00 and £20.00 from most providers.
If you are not eligible for a free covid jab, you can choose to book a private appointment. These are available at certain pharmacies and cost around £95 - £100.
Claiming back the cost of your flu and/or covid jab
You can claim back the cost of your flu and/or covid jab via the University expenses process. Visit the finance pages to access the form and instructions on the expenses process.
