From April, all recruitment material will contain new equalities statements

Supporting guidance on how to consider promoting equality and inclusive practice through job adverts and candidate briefs, including standard equality statements, is available at

The guidance also contains advice on positive action — special measures aimed at alleviating disadvantage or under-representation experienced by those with protected characteristics.

This initiative is supported by the University's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is intended to reflect our unique culture at York.
