Academic staff: submit a project for Laidlaw Scholars to work on in 2018-19

The Laidlaw Scholarship offers bright and ambitious undergraduate students the opportunity to undertake independent research of 5-6 weeks over two summers, together with an accredited leadership programme, which equips them with the skills and behaviours to be a future leader in their chosen field.

For the 2018-19 cohort, students will be able to apply by selecting from a range of pre-defined projects, or by proposing their own project. The Scholars are generously funded for the duration of the research project by the Laidlaw Scholarship.

Academic staff are invited to submit a project that could be carried out by a Laidlaw Scholar in 2018-2019. This may be a new area of research or part of your existing research that you have not yet had the resource or time to explore. We invite projects from across the University, and from all three Faculties.

We wish to align the projects to our Research Themes, and our Research Champions will select the final projects, by reviewing them against a number of criteria, which are included in the guidance notes to be found at the link below. The projects will then be advertised to our undergraduates as part of the Scholarship application process.

We particularly encourage projects that are interdisciplinary in nature or which have the opportunity for students to do some or part of the project with partner institutions internationally.

This really is a unique opportunity to support our next generation of leaders and researchers. If you would like to submit a project, fill out the form below.

Please submit by close of play on Monday 11th December 2017.
