Staff who are clinically vulnerable

The University continues to recognise the need for risk assessments and for decisions to be made by managers regarding how their team members can continue to work safely.

The University's Covid-19 Health and Safety working group, including our campus trade unions, continues to prioritise all aspects of safe working.

Occupational Health continues to use evidence-based guidance to provide health assessments and advice to staff and their managers where there are complexities due to underlying health conditions and combinations of other factors.

Where staff are clinically extremely vulnerable or vulnerable to Covid-19 due to underlying health conditions and combinations of other factors, this should continue to be considered in manager's risk assessments.

Vaccination may well have significantly reduced risks for many staff. However, it is understood that this may not apply to everyone and that some individuals may continue to be at high or very high risk in relation to Covid-19, despite immunisation.

In cases where staff continue at risk despite immunisation, they may wish to carry on taking some additional precautions.
