Alex Puffette; one of our second year PPE undergraduate students has been assisting author and broadcaster Iain Dale research his forthcoming book British General Election Campaigns 1830-2019 published by Biteback, which is released on 26 March 2024.
The book includes chapters by academics, politicians and journalists including John Curtice, Vernon Bogdanor, Julia Langdon, Simon Heffer, Peter Snow, Stephen Parkinson, Sue Cameron, and Robert Buckland MP.
Alex researched and compiled the electoral statistics and facts for each of the chapters within the book.

Alex says "Having long been a fan of his, I first met Iain in August last year when he moderated the Conservative Weald of Kent Parliamentary selection. After getting to know each other, Iain kindly offered me the opportunity to work as the Researcher for the book British General Election Campaigns 1830-2019.
It has been a fantastic experience exploring fifty general elections spanning almost two hundred years. The research process has complemented my studies greatly, and skills I have learned during my PPE degree have been useful throughout.
Very excitingly, as Iain has been impressed with my work, I have been commissioned to write a chapter myself in another book of his which will be published in September 2024 and also continue my researcher role for future projects."
We wish Alex all the best for his forthcoming projects.
