Gardens and parks have always played an important role in human history. They were designed to provide some shade and to beautify the estates of well-established families. In this study day we will focus on historic gardens and green areas built in Islamic countries and commissioned by famous dynasties. We will analyse the gardens in Granada (Spain), Isfahan (Iran), Agra (India), Marrakech (Morocco) and Istanbul (Turkey), among others. We will also take a look at the hydraulic systems, introduced by the Arab and Persian engineers, and the water management that made plants and fruit trees thrive.
