Archival holdings
The two earliest published guides to the Institute's archival holdings were A Guide to the Archive Collections in the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research (Borthwick Text and Calendar 1, 1973) DM Smith, and A Supplementary Guide to the Archive Collections in the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research (Borthwick Text and Calendar 7, 1980) DM Smith.
This page includes archival descriptions taken from both these guides. Accessions from 1981 onwards are not included here, and a published guide to this later material is still available from the Institute: A Guide to Archival Accessions at the Borthwick Institute 1981-1996 (Borthwick List and Index 19, 1997)
